Gun Control Survey Shows Firearm Confiscation Trending

A recent survey conducted in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting indicates that gun control advocates are not interested in banning assault weapons. They want to take ALL of your guns away.

The YouGov survey ran from Feb. 25-27, and polled 1,500 registered voters, with a 2.9 percent margin of error. The results show that an extremely high number of so-called “gun control” advocates do not distinguish between firearms. They are simply anti-Second Amendment.

Upwards of 73 percent of registered Democrats “strongly” support a full ban on semi-automatic weapons and 9 percent “somewhat” favor a ban. That’s 82 percent of the Democrats polled following the heart-breaking school shooting.

But the YouGov survey uncovered caveats about anti-gun sentiments that responsible firearm owners should be deeply concerned about. The 82 percent also included firearms that were neither semi- nor automatic products they would like to see banned.

Upwards of 44 percent of Democrats say they would also ban common self-defense firearms such as handguns, including revolvers, shotguns and bolt-action hunting rifles. If the Democrats polled got their way, law enforcement would be kicking down doors and confiscating every protection citizens own.

Opposing this idea of a crackdown on law-abiding citizens, 53 percent of self-identifying Republicans oppose a firearm ban.

The YouGov survey unearthed a disturbing trend among Democrat voters. A growing number of these gun control advocates would favor the complete and utter repeal of the Second Amendment.

While the general population opposes a repeal of the Second Amendment, polled Democrats favor stripping away gun rights by upwards of 41 percent. Only 39 percent said they would oppose changing the Constitution. Currently, 60 percent of Americans are against making such as radical change.

Many gun rights advocates point to the first weapons ban in modern history, when the Nazis took control of Germany and used a firearm registry to disarm the public.

The recent survey indicated bipartisan support for prohibiting gun sales to those with a “history of mental illness.” Democrats favored a mental illness ban by 86 percent, and 81 percent of Republicans followed suit. Although the gut reaction to such as question makes it easy to check the survey box in support, implementation would likely revert the numbers back along party lines.

Consider that several occupations harbor a mental illness stigma. Those tasked with public safety, for example, are expected to provide strong role modeling and exude confidence. Law enforcement, firefighters, military personnel and first responders generally work in an environment that frowns upon basic mental health services such as psychiatry. It may not make sense, but the stigma exists.

Although getting help for personal issues can be a proactive step toward improved mental health, seeing a counselor would be the next step on the slippery slope to taking away guns. In the case of law enforcement, this could potentially mean losing your job.

Adding mental health to the list of items that bar an individual from owning a firearm is more likely to deter people from seeking valuable treatment. That very mental health treatment, ironically, might have averted one of the horrific school massacres.

It’s unlikely that the anti-Second Amendment lobby would change their position based on real life wellness practices. They just want your guns — ALL of them.
